Why we do it

The Fun day began life in 2003 as a fund raising event for Cylch Meithrin Y Gromlech the nursery school for the two villages. Organised by Debbie it raised £2000 and was a complete success. The following year bad weather forced the cancellation of the planned event on the day which was a great disappointment for all concerned.

In 2005 Amanda joined with Debbie and they took the idea for a community event to the Regeneration Group in the hope of support and help with the organisation. Mark was asked to join as chairman of the new sub committee and the Fun day as  we know it was born.

One of the first decisions made by the new committee was the hire of a marquee to ensure that no matter what the weather may throw at us "The Show must go on!!"

Who benefits?

Children's Christmas party 2007

2007 saw the funday build on previous successes and operated on a slightly different premise, groups who wanted to benefit from funds were invited to have stalls at the field and it was decided that the funds raised from the day would be used to put on a spectacular Christmas party for all the children of the two villages.

Iola, Debbie and Amanda preparing the room and fortifying themselves with glasses of non alcoholic grape juice.....so they assure us.

The eating area before the ravenous hordes descended on it.

Jan spent a lot of time painting Christmas themed faces, sometimes her audience weren't exactly enthralled by what she was doing. In the background you can see the ever popular potters wheel manned by local artist Alan Gayden.

By contrast the childrens entertainer The Pied Piper had the children entranced just like his namesake.

By the time Santa appeared the kids had been entertained, fed and watered and were looking forward to the disco afterwards. But they all were excited by a visit from everyone's favourite gift giver.

As ever Santa was ably aided by his small army of helpful elves.
